Matt Tifft earns top-10 finish at Tri-City Raceway Park

After taking a two-month break from racing to focus on the revitalization of Mansfield Speedway, Matt Tifft returned to the cockpit of his GUNK No. 57 Super Late Model at Tri-City Raceway Park on Friday evening.

Tifft, competing in a 19-car Super Late Model field at the half-mile clay oval in Franklin, Pennsylvania, opened his evening with the eighth-quickest time in his qualifying group. He finished eighth in his heat race and started 14th in the 30-lap, $5,000-to-win feature.

He had climbed to fifth just seven laps into the main event, but soon suffered a flat right-front tire, bringing out the only caution of the race. Tifft’s crew changed the tire without losing a lap and Tifft rebounded to finish 10th.
