Tifft triumphs on dirt for first time at Hummingbird Speedway
Doubleheader Weekend at Raceway 7 and Owosso Up Next
CLEVELAND, Ohio (05/13/2025) – Matt Tifft added to his impressive racing resume on Saturday night with his first dirt win.
The former NASCAR Cup Series racer drove his GUNK No. 57 Super Late Model to a commanding 25-lap victory at Pennsylvania’s Hummingbird Speedway, winning by more than a seven-second margin.
“Yeah, it was a lot of fun,” Tifft said in victory lane. “This is actually my first ever dirt super late model win, so it’s really special to do it in front of all you fans here tonight. Huge thanks to my mom and dad—I grew up going to dirt races, but I never really had the chance to chase it while I was focused on my NASCAR career. I also want to thank my wife, my crew, and all the sponsors who support us. I have been struggling on the dirt side, so I am so happy to be here and get my first win.”
Tifft started the evening strong on Saturday by winning his heat race on the 1/3-mile clay oval. He carried the momentum into the 25-lap, $1,200-to-win feature, where he took the checkered flag ahead of Danny Fenton, Clay Ruffo, Zack Gustafson and Dylan Fenton.
The victory was Tifft’s first feature triumph in 2025 and his second victory, having also won in class during The Mitty at Road Atlanta in late April.
On Friday, Tifft began his weekend with a trip to Tri-City Raceway Park in Franklin, Pennsylvania. After finishing second in his heat on the half-mile oval, he started third in the 25-lap main event. He was passing for the lead when he was taken out on the frontstretch and suffered nose damage, but marched back to second. However, a battery failure ultimately forced Tifft into a 13th-place result with a DNF.

Tifft is set to compete in two divisions this weekend across Ohio and Michigan. His weekend begins Thursday at Raceway 7, where he’ll take on the World of Outlaws Real American Beer Late Model Series in the Great Lake Showdown. From there, he’ll head north to Owosso Speedway to compete in the Outlaw Asphalt Late Model ranks for the Shiawassee Humane Society 100.
