Matt Tifft wraps up Winter Nationals run
On Friday and Saturday, Matt Tifft closed out five straight days of racing at Ocala (Florida) Speedway with the final two nights of the Wieland Winter Nationals.
In Friday evening’s program, Tifft raced his No. 57 GUNK Super Late Model among 43 Lucas Oil Late Model Dirt Series (LOLMDS) competitors at the 3/8-mile, D-shaped oval. He finished ninth in both his heat race and B-Main to conclude his evening before the 50-lap, $12,000-to-win feature.
A $25,000 first-place prize in the next night’s finale brought 47 LOLMDS teams to Ocala. Tifft grabbed the 10th spot in his heat and advanced four positions in his B-Main, but his eighth-place result was not enough to move him into the 50-lap main event.
